Game information

Mastermind: Code Breaker is a deduction puzzle about finding a hidden sequence of colored pegs. The computer fixes its code before the round begins. Build a guess, read the feedback and use that information to narrow down the next combination. You need both the right colors and the right order. Colors may repeat, so identifying a color does not tell you how many copies the secret contains.

How to play Mastermind: Code Breaker

Choose a difficulty and start a round. Select a color from the six-color palette, then place it in a position. The palette contains red, blue, green, yellow, purple and orange. You may use the same color more than once. Fill every position before checking your guess.

Each checked row stays in the history with its feedback. Compare several rows instead of treating every guess as a fresh start. The secret stays unchanged throughout the round. Match every position to win; if you use all the allowed guesses, the game reveals the code and lets you start again.

Reading the feedback

A green marker means one peg has both the correct color and the correct position. A yellow marker means a color belongs in the code but is in a different position. Gray markers fill the unmatched spaces. The feedback is a count of matches, not a map of the row: the first green marker does not identify the first peg.

Every copy in the secret can count only once. Exact matches are counted first, followed by colors in other positions. If the secret contains one red peg and your guess contains two, only one red can contribute to the feedback. This is why repetitions matter and why a promising row can still contain an extra color.

Difficulty settings

  • Easy: 4 positions and 10 guesses.
  • Medium: 5 positions and 12 guesses.
  • Hard: 6 positions and 12 guesses.

All three modes use six colors. Longer codes allow more combinations and require more careful comparisons. The game consists of repeatable rounds rather than a fixed campaign. After solving a code, replay the same difficulty or choose a different one.

Scores, progress and friends

A successful solve earns points based on difficulty, guesses used and time. An unsolved round earns zero. Your results include overall statistics and personal bests for each difficulty. The leaderboard displays saved results from IGROFLOT players. These are puzzle scores.

Guest progress stays on the current device. Signed-in players save their personal round and results to their account. The interface distinguishes confirmed saves from connection or loading problems. The shared friends menu also supports solving one board together with accepted friends; visiting their board does not replace your own private round.

Tips

Use an opening guess to test a clear idea, such as whether two pairs of colors are present. No matches can eliminate those colors altogether. If all colors match but only a few positions do, rearrange the same colors before changing the entire selection.

Compare the differences between two guesses. A deliberate small change is easier to interpret than replacing every peg at once. Remember that a missing yellow marker does not necessarily exclude a color: it may already have counted as an exact green match. Turn on color symbols in settings if distinct shapes make the pegs easier to read.
